At the recent exhibition opening, we met Professor Ruth Taplin, a member who was lecturing at City of London Polytechnic when they provided a temporary home for the Fawcett Collection. Ruth was put in charge of deciding which books would remain part of the Fawcett Collection so it would remain intact for its new home, and remembers very well working with Dr Cynthia White, Head of the Department of Sociology on this. You can read about this stage of the Library in our Timeline, and if you are a member, In Dr Jane Grant‘s History of TWL.
Ruth, who holds a doctorate from the London School of Economics is the author/editor of 29 books. She specialises in intellectual property, competition law (she holds a GDL) entrepreneurship and sustainable innovation while her regional emphasis is Japan and Korea. Ruth’s first published book based on her doctorate at LSE is entitled Economic Development and the Role of Women: an interdisciplinary approach was originally published by Gower/Avebury in 1989 and then published in 2017 by Routledge Revivals.
We look forward to meeting Ruth at future events.
