David Doughan, 1939-2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of David Doughan, and important figure in the history of The Women’s Library. David was just short of his 87th birthday, and failing health had caused him to stand down from the Committee earlier this summer, but he was always our deeply knowledgeable mentor and friend.  It is impossible to do justice to his contribution to the field of women’s history, stretching far beyond his publications: researchers worldwide will remember his leading role at the Fawcett Library, and the help and advice he gave to all comers.  We would love to hear as many of your own reminiscences as possible.

We do not yet know details of the funeral, but messages of condolence can be passed to his widow through our email contact@friendsofthewomenslibrary.org.uk
